The food menu at PJ's menu is quite simple, but has a good diversity; varying from cakes, other desserts to all-day breakfast items, sandwiches and a couple of pasta. Plus, most of them are priced under Rs. 500, so it's quite wallet-friendly too.
The Tuna Sandwich (Rs. 420) was simply glorious. They bake their own bread, and they've done a really good job with it. Soft, airy, fresh and absolutely light, the bread itself was very kadey paan-like, but heaps better. There was a lovely crisp to its outside as it had been sitting on the pan for a while.
The filling was sublime. With lots and lots of tuna to boot, it had bits of onion, green chillies, and tomato along with a dash of pepper to keep things spiced up.
Featuring a drizzle of whipped cream topped off with strawberry slices, the French Toast (Rs. 450) shared the same excellent bread. Eggy, but not in an overpowering way, it had just the right amount of sweetness along with a crispy crust, and was tender within.
Its texture would have been even better if they could have gone easy on the milk, but aside from that, we have no complaints. If you're looking for a filling breakfast under Rs. 500, this is a solid choice.
The Brownie Cake (Rs. 620) was a serving of two round-shaped brownie slices with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in between. Chocolaty and wee bit sweet, the brownies were a tad dense for our liking, but paired well with the ice cream.
In terms of drinks, PJ's does coffee (hot & cold), a collection of tea (hot & cold), milkshakes, smoothies and fresh juices. Infused with Lavazza Premium, we quite enjoyed the coffee-based drinks we opted for; Piccolo Cafe Latte (Rs. 420) and Iced Mocha (Rs. 580).
Piccolo Cafe Latte is essentially a baby latte, made with ristretto, i.e a short shot of espresso. PJ Cafe's take on this was quite good. Smooth and silky, the milk was at its right temperature, while letting the coffee notes to seep through beautifully.
Presented in a tall glass, the Iced Mocha simply wowed us with its perfect balance between coffee and chocolate. Chilled to perfection and refreshing as hell, the tinge of sweetness it had was drawn from the chocolate itself, so there's no need of additional sugar.
The space here isn't the biggest, but it's well cosied up, in a manner you can sit down for a meal, relax, have a chat with a friend or two, while getting some work done.
Warmly welcoming, friendly and full of smiles, the staff at PJ's is a highlight our experience as well. They were happy to serve us and are open to suggestions and feedback too.
One fine cafe experience for the most affordable price tag, we loved our experience at PJ's. If you're based around or passing by, pay them a visit; it's a must try.
A coffeehouse that does amazing food and drinks, mostly under Rs. 500.
