Senok Té Kade

The Senok Te Kade sells packaged Senok Tea, an import product, marketed mainly to tourists and sold sparsely within Sri Lanka.

Senok is a small tea shop inside the Audi showroom on Duplication Road and you wouldn't even know it's there if not for the sign outside. No, it is not a tea shop like Dilmah t-Lounge where you get to enjoy a peach iced tea and have a snack. Basically, The Senok Centre sells packaged Senok Tea which is an export product, focusing mainly on tourists and sold scarcely around Sri Lanka.

The Drinks

Since we tried black tea on our last visit, I decided to check out their green tea options because nowadays a lot of people have begun to include it into their daily life. I got the Blueberry Green Tea (Rs. 170) and the Earl Grey Green Tea (Rs. 170) which sounded weird cause I've never heard of that combo before.

The Blueberry Green Tea was our favorite of the two. It emanated a nice blueberry smell once the tea was brewed, however, the tea itself simply tasted like your normal green tea.

The Earl Grey Green Tea did nothing really. It was just normal green tea and smelled like it too. Then again I don't think you can expect much from Earl Grey flavouring.

Service and Ambience

I really liked the service here. The shopkeeper warmly greeted me as soon as I entered. I was told that their English Breakfast Tea is the most popular one among foreigners. They also have a really cool gift box full of tea bags from across the country like Uva, Ruhuna, Matale, Nuwara Eliya etc which he said was another foreign favorite.

I wasn't a big fan of the ambience to be honest. It was a mud hut style shop with tree trunk pillars which I found to be too confining. While I did love the tea smell, I wouldn't wan to be there for more than 10 minutes.

The walls are lined with colourful packagings of tea, ranging from your everyday teabag boxes to pretty cans from a variety of flavors.

It is a great place to take your tourist friend or even take a few boxes and cans abroad because the packagings are really pretty. That being said, we'd probably suggest you steer away from the flavoured green teas and stick to the classics.

Prices don't seem fixed, so try to appear as local as possible. Or be nice to the lady.
