The Veta App

Veta is an incredibly helpful app that helps the world be free from vector-borne diseases, such as Malaria, Dengue and Zika,

The dengue epidemic just keeps getting worse, especially with most local hospital beds full and the situation showing no sign of abating. You can check out our article for methods to prevent mosquitos and infection, and you can also consider downloading the Veta App to discover incidents around you.

The Veta App provides a simple yet effective way to report and discovers incidents of vector-borne diseases. This enables Veta to provide you and your entire community with access to vital and potentially life-saving information.

The App

The app is completely free and available on both Android and iOS devices. You can sign up using Facebook, Twitter, Google or Email as seen above. It's only 11 MB so it wouldn't take up much of your storage space either.

How it works

Once you sign up they'll give you a small tutorial on what you can do. Basically, you add your neighbourhood (however many you like) and then once you refresh your feed you get to see posts from people nearby.

Report an incident

This is where you get to report a vector-borne disease. Go to your profile and select "report an incident" option. There you can select the disease, whether the incident is simply a suspicion or a confirmed one, who has been affected and where the incident is in close proximity to.

Once you submit your report it would help people in that community to be more vigilant and take necessary precautions which would consequently save more lives.

We think it's a great way to engage in your community and be aware of your surrounding for vector-borne viruses, especially dengue. So if you're keen to find out how your immediate area is affected, download this app. The more people use it, the more effective it becomes!
